Rafting On The Arkansas River

Fisherman's Bridge On The Arkansas River

The Arkansas River begins way up at the Continental Divide near Fremont Pass and tumbles downward through the Leadville area, Granite, Buena Vista, Salida, Howard, Coaldale, the Royal Gorge and Canon City, with much of the river being very conducive for whitewater rafting and kayaking. It is indeed a very large summer time business out here.

Today I visited the Fisherman's Bridge put-in for the Arkansas River, and there were numerous rafters on each side of the river who were on the verge of beginning their trip downstream into Browns Canyon. In the photo above, Noah's Ark (left) and River Runners (right) are two very reputable rafting companies in the area.

Now I must admit that I have never gone whitewater rafting down the Arkansas, and so maybe it was meant for me to be inspried from seeing so many river rafters at this spot. It looks like it would be a lot of fun! :)
